In the field of sandblasting, garnet sandblasting abrasives are more and more favored by users, and the use of garnet sand is also increasing. There are many materials that can be used as sandblasting abrasives, in addition to garnet sand and quartz Sand, brown corundum, glass beads, copper slag, coal slag, etc., before garnet sand was widely used, the most used abrasive was quartz sand, so why was it replaced by garnet sand? Next, we will introduce the relative advantages of garnet sand.

The principles of sandblasting and water jet sanding are actually similar. They both use high-speed water and garnet sand abrasives to work on the surface of objects. The hardness of garnet abrasive is relatively high in sandblasting, the Mohs hardness is 7.5-8, while the wear hardness of quartz sand is around 6. Therefore, compared with the striking force of garnet sand, it is difficult for quartz sand to achieve sandblasting effect.

At the same time, the shape of the garnet sand is a prismatic 12-hedron with sharp sharp corners, which forms a certain roughness on the surface of the sandblasted object, which is also conducive to the adsorption of the paint, so as to achieve a better rust removal effect. Moreover, the rust removal effect of quartz sand is relatively limited, and serious dust phenomenon will be accompanied by the sand blasting process, which will cause harm to the staff and the environment.
