What Is SGA 20/40 Garnet?

SGA 20/40 is a coarse alluvial river garnet abrasive. Through natural water flow and later processing, the material keeps a hard, dense and sub-angular particle shape for strong surface impact and efficient cleaning.

20/40 Mesh Grade Coarse size for heavy-duty blasting work.
Rust & Coating Removal Suitable for scale, coating and corrosion removal.
Stable Mineral Quality Natural inert mineral, non-toxic and chemically stable.
Lower Dust Blasting Lower dust than many traditional blasting media.
Strong Cutting Force Good impact force for steel and marine maintenance.
Export Packaging Available in 25kg bags and 1000kg jumbo bags.

Key Applications

Ship hull blasting with garnet abrasive

Ship Hull Blasting

For marine maintenance, coating removal and surface preparation before repainting.

Steel structure blasting with garnet abrasive

Steel Structure Cleaning

For bridges, steel frames, tanks, pipelines and industrial equipment.

Heavy Rust Removal

Coarse 20/40 mesh grains provide strong impact force for heavily rusted steel surfaces, old coatings and rough industrial maintenance work.

Production Process

River garnet is processed through multiple steps to remove impurities, control particle size and prepare stable abrasive grades for export supply.(You can click on "Quality Control System" on the second page to view the specific generation process.)

01 Raw Material
Selected alluvial river garnet source.
02 Washing & Drying
Remove mud, moisture and loose impurities.
03 Screening
Control 20/40 mesh particle size.
04 Inspection & Packing
Verify quality and prepare export bags.

Laboratory Testing & Quality Control

Quality control is used to verify particle size distribution, bulk density, specific gravity, moisture and chloride content before export supply.

Particle Size Distribution Testing for 20/40 mesh before shipment.
Moisture Control Supports free-flowing abrasive and stable packing.
Chloride Content Reviewed for blasted steel surface preparation.
In-house laboratory for garnet batch inspection and quality testing

FAQ

?How many times can blasting garnet be reused?
Typically 3-5 times depending on blasting pressure, surface condition and recovery system.
?Does blasting garnet contain free silica?
SGA garnet is a silica-free abrasive option and is often chosen as a safer alternative to silica sand.
?What mesh should I choose for heavy rust removal?
20/40 mesh is recommended for heavy rust, thick coating and aggressive cleaning.
?Can I get samples before ordering?
Yes. Samples and technical documents can be arranged on request.

Production and Quality Control

Consistent SGA 20/40 grading depends on control throughout the production process. Raw garnet is selected, separated, washed, dried and screened before finished-product samples are inspected for packing.

01

Raw Material Selection

Selected alluvial garnet provides the starting material. Particle condition, mineral composition and unwanted material are reviewed before processing.

02

Magnetic Separation

Magnetic separation uses differences in mineral magnetic response to help remove selected impurities before further processing.

03

Washing

Washing removes clay, fine dust and loose material from the particle surface before drying and grading.

04

Controlled Drying

Controlled drying reduces moisture before screening and supports free-flowing material during packing and use.

05

Screening and Size Control

Vibrating screens classify the dried garnet into the required 20/40 grade while reducing oversized grains and excessive fines.

06

Laboratory Inspection

Finished-product samples are checked according to the applicable quality-control and order requirements before packing.
