Garnet has become the preferred abrasive for waterjet cutting due to its unique advantages.

1.  With a Mohs hardness of 7.5–8.0 and sharp, angular particles, it cuts efficiently through metals, stone, glass, and other materials.

2.  Its high purity and uniform particle size promote steady flow through the focusing tube, reducing the risk of blockages and unplanned downtime.

3.  As a natural mineral, garnet contains no free silica or hazardous heavy metals, making it safer for operators and the environment.

Compared to slag-based abrasives such as copper slag or coal slag, garnet delivers cleaner results. Slag often carries residual heavy metals that can contaminate the workpiece and equipment, and its irregular particle shape leads to inconsistent cutting quality.
