You might be wondering: what exactly is riverbed garnet ore? Why is it found in rivers? And why is its extraction limited by the seasons?
This phenomenon stems from millions of years of geological evolution, during which garnet-rich rocks gradually weather and disintegrate due to surface erosion. Carried by flash floods and river currents, garnet particles are transported to downstream riverbeds and alluvial plains. Due to their high specific gravity, these heavy minerals settle first in areas where water flow slows—such as river bends, shallows, or deposition zones—forming high-concentration garnet sand deposits. This process is essentially a form of natural sorting that has continued for millions of years.
However, transforming the raw material—initially sorted by nature—into industrial-grade garnet requires manual extraction and precision processing, a critical step that remains constrained by the seasons.

SEPPE’s river garnet processing facility is located right next to high-quality natural mining areas in Northern China. The period from April to October offers favorable weather, making it the prime time for extraction and water-washing processing. However, temperatures drop starting in October, and by November, they can plummet to between -10°C and -20°C. Such extreme cold not only makes extracting raw ore from riverbeds difficult but also disrupts the water-washing and screening processes.

SEPPE begins expanding its inventory as early as October, launching a "Winter Stockpiling Plan." The factory maximizes extraction and purification efficiency to safeguard against potential raw material shortages in the coming months. We plan our inventory in advance based on raw material availability, production schedules, and customer demand. We store all stockpiled finished sand in standardized, dry warehouses to prevent moisture ingress.
When temperatures rise the following spring, the ice and snow melt, and the spring waters begin to flow; river-based extraction and water-washing production lines in northern regions will resume normal operations. With ample on-hand inventory, we ensure the uninterrupted delivery of customer orders.
