Stable conductivity below 100 μS/cm in large-scale production, with selected batches below 75 μS/cm.
As requirements for abrasive cleanliness and quality consistency continue to increase in industrial abrasive blasting, SEPPE continues to explore and optimize its garnet processing and cleaning techniques and improve key stages of the production process.
For 20/40 garnet and 30/60 garnet used in sandblasting, we have strengthened the control of water-soluble ionic contaminants and maintain product conductivity at no more than 100 μS/cm to meet customer requirements for abrasive cleanliness and product consistency.
SEPPE conducts conductivity testing for water-soluble ionic contaminants in abrasives with reference to the ASTM D4940 test method.
The procedure is as follows:
Sample Preparation: Take 300 mL of the 20/40 garnet sample and 300 mL of test water.
First Stirring: Stir for 1 minute.
Settling: Allow the mixture to stand for 8 minutes.
Second Stirring: Stir for 1 minute. The conductivity of the test water should be measured beforehand.
Filtration: Filter the mixture.
Final Measurement: Measure the filtrate and record the reading.
The video below records the complete procedure from sample preparation to final measurement, including sample preparation, adding water and mixing, stirring, settling, filtration, and the final conductivity measurement.
Test water: Conductivity is 9 μS/cm.
Filtrate: The conductivity meter shows a reading of 67.
20/40 garnet: After subtracting the 9 μS/cm conductivity of the test water, the resulting conductivity is 58 μS/cm.
